Paying for Value

Seth Godin just announced an all day session in his office. It was limited to just 14 people.

The cost? $3200. And yet the event sold out in a day.

What does this tell us? People are willing to pay for value. Seth Godin is a marketing genius and brilliant thinker. Getting access to him for an entire day is worth far more than what those 14 people are paying. The ideas they get from Seth will likely pay off for the rest of their careers.

How does this apply to me?

Be willing to invest in yourself. Don’t be afraid to spend money on improving yourself. Don’t think about cost so much (if you don’t have the money that is another thing entirely. But if you do have the money…). Think about the value that you will get out of a seminar, workshop or other experience, like a vacation. The majority of the time, the value will far outweight the upfront cost.
