Microdermabrasion Week Two Results…still Glowing!

Hello there!

Here in the States we have a day called April Fool’s Day – the 1st of April where people prank one another.  I am happy to say I did NOT get pranked and so I will pay it forward by not pranking you.  Everything I am about to share is the whole truth and nothing but the truth so help me God.

After working with clients on a marketing campaign today I was happy to end my business week and head off to enjoy another glorious 90+ minute treatment with Marta today.  Obviously I find the entire Microdermabrasion European Skin Care Treatment news worthy or I wouldn’t be blogging about it. I just can’t figure out why it took me so long to
1.) Meet Marta!
2.) Hear that European Skin Care Treatment was available in Dayton, Ohio www.martareyskincare.com
3.) Learn what European Skin Care Treatment is and how it is totally different than ’spa facials’
4.) Improve my vocabulary by adding skin care treatment terms to it – spell Microdermabrasion

Today as dead skin cells were sucked off my face with rapid fire precision I really paid attention to all my senses.  Marta explained to me about the tool that she said is the most valuable in her skin treatment arsenal.  It is a high frequency neon gas filled wand that heats up (and lights up too!) that she moves slowly over my skin to remove any remaining bacteria from the surface of my skin following the Microdermabrasion.  I watched it with fascination.  Each step of the Microdermabrasion treatment is amazing.

The facial skin massage helps rid the skin of toxins, and afterwards you can really see the relaxed appearance and softened expression.

The DIBI skin care line (#1 in Italy) that Marta assigned me to use are fabulous and easy to integrate into my morning and nighttime cleansing routine.  A creamy cleanser, soothing tonic, day or night moisturizer, eye cream, and SPF 25 for day time completes my regime.  Marta said that some of her clients only use a cleanser, toner, and one moisturizer and skip the eye cream and night cream, but for optimal results of skin care treatment and product she recommends the full “Ferrari”.  Having been a believer of using good quality skin care products all my adult life (since my teens) I trust Marta to steer me in the right decision.  My skin has already shown massive improvement so that validates the two extra products IMO.

Here is the best part – my youngest son returned from Spring Break (safely thank God) and noticed how great my skin looked.  I had NO make up on.  I’m one who rarely walks out of the house without make up.  It’s kind of my security blanket.  But every now and then I find myself enjoying my real face, sans all the extra coverings.  It’s a real sense of freedom.  Hmmmm, maybe that is why some people (like my friend Patticakes) who dig nude beaches.
Now that, you’d never catch me on.  There’s not enough Dermabrasion tools, high frequency wands, or fantastic skin care in the world to make me want to bare THAT.

Until next time,

Danielle

Taming The Email Monster

Email has gotten out of control. On a typical day for me, I get well over 100 messages. Today, I decided to wait until 3:30 to check email. I had over 200 messages waiting for me and that wasn’t very unusual. Recently, I’ve come up with a system to tame the email monster which I’m going to share with you today.

1) Get an online based email service like Gmail. It’s much more efficient. I can go through all the reasons to use Gmail, but this video from Jim Cockrum explains it better than I can:

2) Get a service called Evernote. The basic plan is free. Evernote is an online “clipping” service where you can keep your favorite websites and tools organized. Here’s a cool little video about Evernote that explains it:

3) Use a task management program. I like Insightly, but Remember The Milk is quite popular as well.

4) Use a calendar for your appointments. Online calendars like Google Calendar and Yahoo Calendar are good, or even a pen and paper calendar is ok too.

Ok, got everything set….lets get you more productive! Your goal is to get your email to empty as soon as possible. If you are able, check your email less often. Try to get down to once or twice a day if you can. If that won’t work, at least wait a little longer to check it the first time for the day.

Here’s the process:

1) Find the emails that are spam and just check the box and archive it. Get it out of the way asap.

2) For short messages, read them and archive. If it something you can reply to in a minute or two, go ahead and reply.

3) For longer messages that require some thought when you reply and things that are tasks, forward that to your task management account and then archive the message. The task management services come with a free dedicated email address that will automatically turn your forwarded messages into tasks.

4) For emails that are appointments, add them to your calendar immediately, and archive the message.

5) For messages that are more interesting sites, trainings, videos, webinars or just useful things you need to review, forward those to your Evernote account.

There you have it! When I used this system today, I was able to get over 200 emails down to an empty inbox in about 15 minutes. It lowered my stress and made me more productive.

I’m not really a productivity coach, but I just thought I would share. However, I know a guy here in the Dayton area who IS a productivity coach, so if you need help setting these systems up, contact Robert Ward at  www.productive-leadership.com

Social Proof Your Business!

Have you lately?

Social Proof is more important than having a fancy-schmancy website with all the bells and whistles or catchy copy lingo that you paid someone a whole lot of moola to write for you!

Consumers look to other consumer’s opinions to make their purchases!  We use Social Proof to make our decisions.   We want to know that someone has gone first and had success before we try our hand at it!

As a business owner, Social Proof is just what your customer is looking for before they hand over the credit card info.  It’s kinda like virtually wrapping your potential customer up in a soft, warm snuggie!  When someone is considering investing money or making a big purchase you want them to feel confident, warm and snugglie about purchasing from you!  Rather than uncomfortable, unsure, and uneasy because this leads to shopper’s remorse and refunds!

You can create social proof in many different ways. Below are a few tips and examples to Social Proof Your Business!

1.  Testimonials of Success.

Do the testimonials you have from clients reflect the success you brought to them through your coaching, writing or product?  A testimonial should provide social proof to the reader.  Having a testimonial that simply states “Alicia Rocks” is NOT Social Proof.  Be sure to always include a headshot along with links to their website when you display their testimonial.   If you can get them to do a video – even better!!  People will connect with them

You can display testimonials in many different ways on your website and social networking sites!   Ask for them from those that have downloaded your freebie or enjoyed your free tips from your blog.  Let them know that it will be a great opportunity for exposure for their business as well!  (If any of my tips have brought success to your business, please share in the comments below.  Your testimonial of success and website might be displayed on my site or in The Scoop!)

2.  Social Media

Hook your website up to provide your social media social proof (say that 5x’s fast!).  Install a Facebook Like Widget on your sidebar (see mine>>>) that displays info from your Facebook Page.  You can set it to show the purdy faces of your liker – it will by default show their friends faces first!  Twitter also has plenty of widgets that you can add to your blog or website that will pull in your feed.  Use Tweet-stimonials to display your favorite tweet-stimonials of success to your website!  LinkedIn offers a feature for people to recommend you that does mimic testimonials.  Ask your clients to make recommendations of your services or products on LinkedIn!

Don’t forget you must also establish yourself as The Expert or The Go-To person for your fans and followers.  You can do this by participating on their pages more than your own!

3.  Be Creative!

There are several different items that I gave consideration to for this last tip but I am going with BE CREATIVE!!!  Come up with creative ways to incorporate Social Proof into your online presence.  Be a guest blogger for a well-known website, ask to interview a well-known guru that your viewers can benefit from, or display pictures taken with high-level professionals in your industry.

Share your testimonial of success below or how you have social proofed your business!

Networking Is A Contact Sport

networking Recently, I met with a guy who is very good at what he does but his business is slow. I asked him if he did networking. He said “yes, but I never get a darn thing from these networking meetings. Those are a waste of my time.” He showed me a huge stack of business cards. He revealed to me that he has never kept in touch with anyone from the cards.

I asked him if he was on LinkedIn. He said yes. I asked how many people from the cards he has on his friends list. It was a very low number. I didn’t ask about Facebook, but I’m sure it would be a similar answer. I asked how many LinkedIn groups he belonged to. It was under 10. I asked how many of the LinkedIn groups he belonged to he participated in. He said he rarely if ever participated in the groups that he is a member of.

Hmm…… I think I found the problem here. If you participate in engaging your network, they will forget you exist. That I can assure you. I’m certainly not trying to pick on this guy because I do feel that his problem is actually very common among small business owners.

Remember, work the network!

Networking Tips: 4 Ways to Expand Your Professional Network

Conrado Morlan asked:

Networking is one of the most useful ways to get references or contacts. For some people represent a challenge to meet people and have an informal conversation, for others it may be natural to interact with others in any environment.

In general, I feel comfortable networking with people in live and virtual environments. I personally consider myself as an open virtual networker. Last month I have the opportunity to attend two congresses, one as a delegate and another one as a Presenter Taking advantage of this opportunity I was looking for new ways to network with the congress attendees. In both events, I was able to “break the ice” in several ways. Here are some of the techniques that worked out for me:

- From virtual to personal. First, I checked if any of the members of my virtual networks would be attending the events and make the arrangements to meet and greet. This was a good start and is always good to “put a face to the name” or “put a real face to the avatar”. This technique led me to meet in person five members of my LinkedIn network and a couple of Twitter followers.

- Ask/Answer questions! This technique was spontaneous. During one of the presentations I attended, the presenter pooled the audience about who wrote articles about project management and I raise my hand. At the end of the presentation and during the questions and answers section I asked a question related to what publications he would recommend to approach to submit articles. When the presentation finished two delegates approached me and told me that they share the interest of writing articles and asked for recommendations and references. We exchange ideas and business cards and now we are members of our respective virtual networks and looking forward for the next article to be published.

- Differentiation. In both congresses credential ribbons were available for both presenters and delegates. The delegates attached the ribbons to their badges and it showed the different credentials the individual holds, if was member of a group of specific interest, first timer, presenter, etc. The presenter ribbon makes the individual to stand out from the crowd. People usually approached to me to ask about the topic of the presentation, the time and the day of the presentation, asking for references about the topic or just to wish me luck. Credentials are great differentiators. I am one of the few 500+ credential holders of the Program Management Professional (PgMP) PMI’s credential. The PgMP black ribbon created a lot of attention. The interest of program managers in this credential has increased in the last 12 months and many of them are pursuing it and looking for advice. The PgMP black ribbon led me to start a mentoring group for project management professionals from Argentina and Costa Rica.

- Mistake as an ice-breaker. My congress badge included my name, company name, city and state. When I printed the badge, I did not realize that the city was incorrect. The city of the billing address was printed instead of the city of my home address. The final result: Plantation, TX. This mistake gave me the opportunity to meet many Texan project management professionals who asked where in the great state of Texas was Plantation.

Planning to use networking techniques or creating new one on-the-spot are good ways to start your professional network and meet other people sharing your same profession or common interest.

When attending any event do not forget to bring business cards. If you do not have a company business card you can design and order your own personal/networking cards. During the event and at the end of each day send a follow-up email to the people you meet, this will keep your network warm and will let you remember later the topics or common interest of the people you met.

Happy networking!
