Recently, I was approached by a rep from MDA to participate in their Lock-Up fundraiser. I’ve been approached before and have been interested, but never had time to actually do it.
This time I said, “what the heck” and decided to go for it. My lock up date is September 26th.
But, I decided to make things interesting….
Why not add in a raffle and donate the raffle earnings to my “bail”?
So, that’s what I’m going to do. At the Elsa’s meetup on the 21st and the Heather’s meetup in September, I will be raffling off two free passes to my Mr. Leads Power Networking Workshop (separate drawings). I’ve also reached out to other business people who will also be adding items to the raffle as well.
Additionally, I’ll be accepting cash raffle entries at the meetup.
Raffle tickets are just $5 each. Pretty good deal, wouldn’t you say? $5 to potentially win a $150 ticket that will help you substantially grow your business and help out MDA in the process. What a deal!
For the online entries, please make your donation public by checking the “make public” box when you check out online, so I’ll know how many raffle tickets to issue you at the meetup.
If you are a winner of the raffle, you can attend the workshop the next day, August 22nd from 2-5 pm at Indiana Wesleyan. Or if you want to wait, I also recently added workshops on September 25th and October 24th. Both are also 2-5 p.m. at Indiana Wesleyan. The ticket sale website, event description and testimonials are at www.MrLeadsLive.com.
You will need to be present to win, so I look forward to seeing you at the meetup and good luck to you!
We had a great time yesterday at the launch of the Mr. Leads Power Networking Workshop. Luckily, Bob Goldberg and Danielle Deramo brought cameras and were taking some pictures of my debut. Thanks again to The Fabulous Linda Lee for the wardrobe consultation.
I received a stack of rave reviews after the workshop. Several people even took the next step and posted the following recommendations on my LinkedIn profile. Thank you for the recommendations! I appreciate it.
I shared several LinkedIn tips and techniques and on several occasions, heard gasps at what I had pulled off and a few “ohhh, that’s how that works” from the crowd.
We also had a lengthy discussion about LinkedIn scams. I told the attendees that there are definitely scammers on LinkedIn these days and we all need to be vigilant. However, social media is too important to ignore. The fact that the scammers are using LinkedIn just proves that it’s here to stay. I also talked at length about the “Hr Manager” scam that I’m seeing lately and discussed some other things I’m finding.
One section that got several comments and ended up being my favorite section as well was my “never cold call again” segment. I took one member of the audience who is currently cold calling. I asked her who her #1 target is at the moment and she gave me the name of a well known mid-sized Dayton based company. Using LinkedIn, within 2 minutes, I was able to locate the President of that company and showed her several contacts who she could approach for an introduction to the President.
Then, my cold caller said, “well actually, I need to talk to HR instead of the President.” I replied, “no problem.” and then showed her several contacts in HR for that same company along with mutual connections she could tap into to get in to the HR department.
Let me ask you a question. How do you feel when you are cold called? Is it really working in this day and age? Let’s face it. If you can learn to turn a cold call into a warm call, isn’t it worth a few hours of your time to learn how to do so?
What if you could cancel out your entire direct mail campaign or your telemarketing department? How much money could you then devote to more profitable activities?
What if you were able to actually make networking fun and profitable? What if you were able to double or triple your networking results while doing the same amount of networking you are currently doing?
I can show you all of this and more at my workshop. But, only if you attend!
If you missed the training yesterday, now’s you chance to see me in action for yourself. I currently have two days scheduled and those dates are August 13th and August 22nd from 2-5 p.m. at Indiana Wesleyan. Most likely other dates will be added, but I have not yet determined when those dates will be. I have several partners lined up for these workshops and all discount codes still apply.
Yesterday I get this email from a LinkedIn connection. It made me laugh since it was such a poor request for a referral. BTW, this is the first time I’ve ever heard from this person who lives out of state. It came off my old 17,000 person account. Good thing, because if it was on my new account, I would have dropped her in a heartbeat.
Here’s what it said:
It’s renee from LinkedIn !! The reason why I am contacting you is to ask you for some help. I am expanding my business in your area and was wondering if we could set up a time to chat so I can fill you in on what I am doing, in hope of getting some referrals. I know how valuable your time is and it will only take about 15 minutes. I have a few time slots available on Thursday, let me know what time works for you.
Renee (her last name, the business name and phone was listed in the email but I’m going to withhold it, you you get the idea)
That same day, I get an email from a “LinkedIn expert” that’s going to show me how to leverage LinkedIn and get 2000 leads a week (yes he really said that) and what a cool dude he is because he has 30,000 connections. Like that’s going to impress me? No, I’m not impressed. I call that a spammer!
Wow, there’s such a huge market out there for my training I don’t even know where to begin. Too many so called experts are teaching bad habits that will get you in a lot of hot water with LinkedIn. You could get your account restricted and even terminated if you follow some of this terrible advice. LinkedIn can be a lot of fun and profitable if you understand how the game is played and play by their rules.
If you are ready to learn real LinkedIn strategies that actually work, join me at my Mr. Leads Power Networking Workshop at Indiana Weslayan. We do some have some tickets available and are offering discounts to members of selected referral groups like BNI, PRE, Simply Women, TBN and others. Ask your group leader for the coupon code.
